At today’s Special Board Meeting, Dr. Brian Smith shared his resignation as Superintendent of the School Town of Highland. As the search for his replacement is underway, Dr. Ryan Erdelac, the Assistant Superintendent, has been named Interim Superintendent.
We would like to sincerely thank Dr. Smith for his 13 years of incredible leadership as the STOH Superintendent. Throughout his tenure, Dr. Smith was always a strong advocate for children and put our students first in all of his decision-making. He was deeply involved in our schools and community, constantly attending sporting events, performances, and more throughout the years. Our students and schools have had countless success stories during his time with Highland, and Dr. Smith is very proud to have helped us achieve a remarkable 98% graduation rate and 97% IREAD passing rate.
We wish Dr. Smith all the best as he begins a new professional experience, and we are very grateful for the positive impact he has had on the School Town of Highland.

Durante la reunión de la junta escolar de hoy, el Dr. Brian Smith presentó su renuncia como superintendente del Distrito Escolar de Highland. Mientras se busca al próximo superintendente, el Dr. Ryan Erdelac, el superintendente adjunto, ha sido nombrado superintendente interino.
Queremos expresar nuestra gratitud por los 13 años que el Dr. Smith ha sido superintendente de STOH. Para él, nuestros estudiantes siempre fueron lo más importante en todo lo que hizo, y trabajó cada día para seguir mejorando su educación. Estuvo muy involucrado en nuestras escuelas y en nuestra comunidad, asistiendo constantemente a eventos atléticos, espectáculos y más durante los últimos 13 años. Nuestros estudiantes han tenido mucho éxito durante su tiempo en Highland, y el Dr. Smith está muy orgulloso de habernos ayudado a lograr una tasa de graduación del 98% y una tasa de aprobación en IREAD del 97%.
Deseamos al Dr. Smith lo mejor mientras comienza una nueva experiencia profesional, y estamos muy agradecidos por el impacto positivo que ha tenido en STOH.
